Playbills As Wall Art!

Do you have a favorite playbill, children's play or dance program you have been saving? Don't know what to do with all the playbills/programs you collect over the years? Here is an original and affordable way to display playbills - frame them and display as wall art. I actually purchased these frames several years ago, knowing I wanted to display our playbills (sometimes it takes me a while to get projects done  ; ) ). I am reminded every time I walk up my stairs of how much I love attending plays and the memories associated with them.

Wicked is one of my all time favorite Broadway plays.  Three of these playbills shown we actually haven't seen the play (Mary Poppins, Spiderman and War Horse). So, I visited Playbill.com (great resource) and printed out a few playbills of plays that we would like to see and added them to our collection.

We traced around the picture frames onto kraft paper, cut out and taped the paper to the wall. This is an easy way to figure out the spacing and how we wanted to hang the frames on the wall without a lot of nail holes in the wall. We then marked (through the paper) where the nail hole should go. The paper is removed before the frame is hung.

If you don't have a lot of playbills/programs, start by using playbill images from a Playbill on Broadway Wall Calendar. Another way to display playbills is to arrange an assortment of them in one large frame.

Priscilla Presley And Her New Collection

Last week, I had the chance to attend Las Vegas Market at the World Market Center. I was truly inspired by fabulous exhibits, educational meetings and trendsetting new products. Meeting celebrity designers was the cherry on top! HStudio partnered with Priscilla Presley to create a home and lifestyle collection of vintage-inspired modern accents.  Priscilla said, "I believe your home is a visual expression of who you are and it is my aspiration to create an affordable yet luxurious line that reflects the beauty in all of us." All of the furniture and accessories were black, white/cream or grey with the color Aubergine (purple) as the only bold bright color. The small accessories were affordable, with the furniture priced in the high end category. This full-sized horse floor lamp was priced retail at approximately $6,000. Horses were definitely a new trend I spotted everywhere at the show.

Beautiful Aubergine color. The picture frames, table top lamps and butterfly art I found to be more reasonably priced.  HStudio products are very sophisticated with excellent workmanship.

Stunning  painted portrait.

Yep, that's me and Priscilla Presley. She is very petite with stunning skin.
I didn't dare mention to her that my husband dressed up as Elvis and I as Priscilla for Halloween a couple of years ago : ) !!!

Strawberry Themed Valentine Printable {Free}

Teacups can be purchased at thrift shops for cheap. Sanitize teacups and use for gift giving containers. Children's school teachers need a valentine too!

Free Valentine printable, "To a Berry Sweet Valentine Have a Berry Sweet Day!" Easy and simple Valentines to create for your very own kids, kids friends and teachers! I've included several  different strawberry ideas to use this free printable with:

fresh fruit strawberries
strawberry jam
chocolate dipped strawberries
strawberry mini ice cream
strawberry fruit snacks
strawberry crush
strawberry plant
fruit leather

Add ribbon and strawberry valentine to a carton of strawberries for a simple and darling gift.

Clear bag,  ribbon and strawberry fruit snacks.
Need to seal a cello bag to keep food fresh? Check the bottom of the post for an easy, simple idea.

Tulle, strawberry fruit snacks and ribbon. The 3.5 inch scallop circle punch was purchased at Michaels Craft stores. Here is a similar  3-Inch Scallop Circle Punch.

Quick and easy - attach the Valentine label directly to strawberry fruit snacks (purchased at Target)

Fun treat for your kids. Attach the valentine printable to the top of a mini ice cream (strawberry, of course!)

I purchased the red tag at Michaels Crafts (dollar section) and attached the valentine to the tag. Tie the tag onto a fruit leather roll-up!
Valentine tag attached to strawberry jam

Fresh strawberries placed inside a mason jar makes for a great neighbor, teacher or friend gift.

Add a cute label to a Crush strawberry soda or strawberry plant.

Need to seal a cellophane bag without purchasing an expensive sealer? Use an old curling iron or flat iron. The bags need to b Cello or Cellophaneir.gif to work. Cookies, candies, favor items and anything needing to be kept fresh -work well in a sealed bag. Place the items in the cello bag and place the bag between the heated curling iron hold in place 5 - 15 seconds (depending on the temperature). You might need to seal it again if your curling iron isn't hot enough. Beware - flat irons are extremely hot. I turn my flat iron on and then unplug it to let it cool enough that it doesn't melt the cello. The cello bags seem to do better with a flat iron that isn't sizzling hot.  Sealing a cello bag with a curling iron is the same premise as using an industrial impulse sealer.

Color, Color, Color and a Design Star!

My experience at Las Vegas Market was non-stop and very inspiring. I attended several seminars that were informative and educational. Glamour, color, sparkle, natural wood grains, French-inspired, vintage and recycled materials describe the many beautiful showrooms, products and latest trends. Las Vegas Market home/gift/furnishings show is held twice a year but the Las Vegas Design Center at World Market Center, is a year- round resource open to both the design trade and consumers.

One trend I'm excited to see is COLOR! Bright colors and bold hues are great for a child's room or playroom. But, color is also showing up as accents, furniture and rugs in living rooms, kitchens, home offices, etc.

Who is the Design Star that reminds you most of color? Scroll down to the bottom to see who I got to meet!

Victorian and French reproduction resin furniture were introduced at the show by Pol Rey. Eye-popping colors of hot pink, red, lime green, bright blue and yellow are some of the finishes available. This red chair is completely made of resin (no soft cushions) which is perfect for the outdoors.

Outdoor furniture made of resin and special upholstery.

Most designs at the LVM won't be available for a few months. Here is another Cyan Design Modern Clear Glass Link Pendant Chandelier that is available now.

Yes, it is David Bromstad from HGTV's Color Splash. We posed for the camera for at least a minute - due to the gal not knowing how to take a iPhone pic. I told her to take her time! ; ) He's just as cute in person as he is on TV.  David's fabulous show is all about color and how he works color in bland rooms turning them into a masterpiece.  Cyan Design celebrated the opening of their new showroom at LVDC with a meet and greet with David Bromstad.
